Understanding Selling and Listing Options
The Domain Name Aftermarket (TDNAM) provides you with options for selling your domain. You can sell your domain with a free basic listing or add optional features that allow you to increase your domain's exposure on TDNAM. You can sell domains that are registered with any registrar, that do or do not include Web site content, and that are or are not parked. However, we recommend that you transfer your site to us, which includes a one-year extension to your registration period. If your listed domain contains Web site content, you can add the value of the Web site content to the listing, giving the buyer the option of using the Web site after acquiring the domain. You can list domains for seven days to three months, depending on the listing type:
- Offer/Counter Offer - Sells when you or the buyer accept an offer. For more information, see Selling Domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.
- Offer/Counter Offer with Buy Now - Sells when you or the buyer accept an offer or the buyer accepts the Buy Now price. For more information, see Selling Domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.
- Buy Now Only - Sells when the buyer accepts the Buy Now price. For more information, see Selling Domains with Offer/Counter Offer or Buy Now Listings.
- 7-day Public Auction - Buyers bid on the domain, which sells to the highest bidder when the auction ends. However, if you set a reserve price, it only sells if the reserve price was met. For more information, see Selling Domains by Public Auction.
When listing your domain for sale, you're not charged for a free basic listing. However, you check out through the shopping cart, where you enter crucial information that allows TDNAM to process the proceeds for the sale of your domain. You will not be asked for a credit card number unless you purchased additional features, such as Home Page Featured, or other items.
The price limit for a domain listing is $50,000. To list a domain for more than $50,000, you must purchase a Certified Appraisal that appraises the domain for at least $25,000.
Listings that include the Buy Now option may end if you receive a bid that meets the Buy Now amount. Once your domain sells, TDNAM keeps a small percentage of the selling price. These fees are in addition to the annual membership fee. For more information, see TDNAM Fees.
