How do I renew my certificate?
To renew an expiring SSL certificate, you must purchase a certificate-renewal credit from us, then log in to your SSL account and follow the provided instructions for requesting a certificate renewal. We prompt you to renew expiring SSL certificates via email. Renewal notices are sent 120, 90, 60, 45, 30 and 15 days prior to the certificate's expiration date and on the day of expiration if you have not renewed.
To renew an expiring SSL certificate
- Log into your Account Manager.
- Click SSL Certificates.
- Find the SSL Certificate that you want to renew. You may need to navigate to a different page if you have more than one page of products. Click on the underlined SSL Certificate Name.
- A new box will open. From the drop down menu in that box, choose the renewal duration that you would like to purchase. Click Continue.
- You will be redirected to your shopping cart. You will need to select a payment method and pay for your certificate renewal credit. Click Checkout Now.
- After completing your purchase, you will be returned to the SSL Certificates area to continue with the renewal application process.
- On your Manage SSL Certificates page, click Manage Certificate next to the certificate name for which you just purchased a renewal credit.
- Once in the SSL account, you will see your renewal credit under Use Certificate Credits. Click the radio button or circle in front of the renewal credit and start your application.
Once the renewed certificate has been signed and issued, we will email it to you, along with our intermediate certificate.
NOTE: A certificate can be renewed up to 120 days prior to the expiration date. The renewal credit may be used 60 days prior to the expiration date. If the SSL certificate is allowed to expire, the renewal credit must be purchased no later than 30 days after the expiration date.
If the SSL certificate is allowed to expire, and the certificate renewal credit has not been used, the visitor's browser will display a warning upon entering the Web site area that was previously protected with your SSL certificate. Even if you purchase a renewal credit, you must be apply the renewal credit before the expiration date will be updated on your certificate.
If the SSL certificate renewal credit was purchased but not used, and the certificate has been expired for more than 30 days, then the account will require the full vetting process again before the renewed certificate can be issued.
