Creating Custom Syncs
Using File Backup, you can quickly and easily synchronize files on your computer with files in your Online File Folder.
To Create a Custom Sync
- From your Start menu or your system tray, open File Backup.
- In the the File Backup window, click New.
- In the Select a Backup or Sync window, select Custom Sync.
- Click Next.
- Go to the Folder tab and click Browse to locate and select the folder on your computer that you want to synchronize.
- Click Browse to locate and select the folder in your Online File Folder account that you want to synchronize.
NOTE: To create a new folder on your computer to backup, click "Create New Folder" and enter a name to replace "New Folder".
- Click OK.
- For What would you like to do?, select a behavior for the synchronization.
- Backup files on my computer...
- Any files that exist in the selected folder on your computer that do not exist in the selected folder on your Online File Folder are copied to your Online File Folder.
- Download files from my Online File Folder...
- Any files that exist in the selected folder on your Online File Folder that do not exist on your computer are copied to your computer.
- Synchronize the folder...
- Any files you added, updated, or deleted in the selected folder on your computer are added, updated, or deleted in the selected folder on your Online File Folder and vice versa.
- Go to the Options tab and complete the following:
- Enter a name for this backup
- Enter a name for the backup.
- Enter the file types to include
- Enter any file types to include in the backup. You can click Pick to select file types from a list.
- Enter the file types to exclude
- Enter any file types to exclude from the backup. You can click Pick to select file types from a list.
- Enter files or subfolders you want to exclude
- Enter any filenames or subfolder names that you want to exclude from the backup.
- Go to the Schedule tab to specify when you want the backup to occur.
- Manual
- Creates a backup that you must run manually from the Actions menu.
- Automatic
- Schedules the backup to run once per day when there is idle time on your computer.
- Daily
- Select the time of day that you want the back to run each day.
- Weekly
- Select the time of day and days of the week that you want the back to run.
- Click OK.
