Upgrading from Outlook 2002 or 2003 using Exchange to Microsoft Email and Outlook 2007
Typically your email messages, calendar, contacts, and other items are stored with your Exchange service. If you previously had Exchange service and are switching to our Microsoft Email service, and need to upgrade from previous version of Microsoft Office Outlook to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, you will need to export your old Exchange mailbox information, install Outlook 2007, configure it to use your new Microsoft Email account, and then import your old Exchange data into your new account.
Exporting your Exchange data
- Start Outlook and access your Exchange profile.
- From the File menu, select Import and Export.
- In the Import and Export Wizard, from the Choose an action to perform menu, select Export to a file, and then click Next.
- In the Export to a File window, from the Create a file of type menu, select Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
- In the Export Personal Folders window, From the Select the folder to export from menu, select your Exchange mailbox, select Include subfolders, and then click Next.
- In the Export Personal Folders window, verify the location of the export file listed in the Save exported file as field, or click Browse to specify a different name and location for your export file.
- Select the Options for your export, and then click Finish.
- In the Create Microsoft Personal Folders window, review the settings, and then click OK.
- Exit Microsoft Outlook.
Downloading and Setting Up Outlook 2007 or Entourage 2008
You need to download and set up Outlook 2007 or Entourage 2008 to access your Microsoft Email mailbox. For instructions please see Downloading and Setting Up Outlook or Entourage for your Microsoft Email Account.
Setting up Outlook 2007 to connect to your Microsoft Email mailbox
- From the Start menu, click Control Panel, click Mail, click Show Profiles, and then click Add.
- In the Profile Name field, enter the name for your new profile, and then click OK.
- In the Add New E-Mail Account dialog box, on the Auto Account Setup screen, complete the following:
- Your Name
- Enter your user name.
- E-mail Address
- Enter your Microsoft Email account email address.
- Password and Retype Password
- Enter your Microsoft Email account password.
- Click Next.
- When prompted to Allow this website to configure server settings?, click Allow.
- When prompted for your User name and Password, enter your Microsoft Email account email address and password, and then click OK.
- On the setup confirmation page, click Finish.
- In the Mail dialog box, from the Always use this profile menu, select your new profile, and then click OK.
Importing your old Exchange data into your Microsoft Email account
- Start Microsoft Outlook 2007.
- From the File menu, select Import and Export.
- On the Import and Export Wizard, from the Choose an action to perform menu, select Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
- From the Select file type to import from menu, select Personal Folder File (.pst), and then click Next.
- Click Browse to locate and select your .pst file, select the Options you want to use for the import, and then click Next.
- In the Import Personal Folders dialog box, select the information you want to import. Make sure your new Microsoft Email mailbox is selected as the destination of the imported items, and then click Finish.
