Managing BlackBerry Devices
You can quickly configure your BlackBerry device for Microsoft Email and manage your password settings, activation, resend the service book, and delete or wipe the device. You access your management options from the BlackBerry Devices folder. For more information on working with your BlackBerry Device, see BlackBerry Support.
NOTE: To use your BlackBerry with Microsoft Email, you must have BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) as part of your calling plan. For more information about BES, refer to your carrier.
Adding BlackBerry Devices
You can provide BlackBerry email access to members of your organization.
To Add a BlackBerry Device
- Open the folder of the organization for which you want to add a mobile device.
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Above your list of mobile devices, click Add Device.
- In the Add Mobile Device section, enter the BlackBerry device PIN.
- In the Assign To field, select the user to whom you want to assign the mobile device.
- Click OK.
Editing BlackBerry Devices
You can edit your BlackBerry settings.
To Edit Settings for Your BlackBerry
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device you want to edit.
- Click Edit.
- Edit the settings.
- Click OK.
Setting Passwords on BlackBerry Devices
You can set passwords on BlackBerry devices to ensure only authorized viewers can access locked devices.
To Set a Password on a BlackBerry Device
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device for which you want to set a password.
- Click Password.
- Enter the new password.
- Click OK.
Generating Activation Codes for BlackBerry Devices
Activation codes allow you to enable your BlackBerry device to use with the carrier for which the device is set.
To Generate an Activation Code
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device for which you want to generate an activation code.
- Click Activation.
- Click OK.
Wiping BlackBerry Devices
From your Microsoft Email account, you can wipe your BlackBerry device.
To Wipe a BlackBerry Device
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device you want to delete from your account.
- Click Delete.
- Select Delete selected device(s), and then click OK.
NOTE:Wiping the BlackBerry device permanently deletes all of the information currently on the device including contacts, text messages, email messages, and images.
Purging Pending Messages on BlackBerry Devices
You can purge pending messages to prevent them from being delivered to your BlackBerry device.
To Purge Pending Messages
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device for which you want to purge messages.
- Click Purge Pending.
- Select Purge pending messages for the selected device(s), and then click OK.
Resending Service Books to BlackBerry Devices
If you encounter connectivity issues, you can resend the service book to a BlackBerry device.
To Resend the Service Book
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device to which you want to send the service book.
- Click Resend Book.
- Select Resend Service Book to the selected device(s), and then click OK.
Deleting BlackBerry Devices from Your Account
You can delete a BlackBerry device from your account.
To Delete a BlackBerry Device
- Click the BlackBerry Devices folder.
- Select the BlackBerry device you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
- Select Delete Selected Device(s), and then click OK.
NOTE:Deleting a device permanently deletes the BlackBerry device from the account.
