Rebooting Your Dedicated Server
To reboot your dedicated hosting server, you will need to SSH or Remote Desktop to your server (depending on your operating system) and then issue a reboot command.
To Reboot Your Dedicated Hosting Server
In Linux
- SSH to your server.
- In the command line, type:
su -
reboot
In Windows
- Remote Desktop to your server.
- From the Start menu, select Shut Down.
- From the What do you want the computer to do? drop down menu, select the action you want the take.
- In the Shutdown Event Tracker section, under Option, select the reason you are rebooting your server.
- In the Comments field, enter your comments regarding the reason for your reboot. This step is required.
- Click OK.
If you are unable to reboot your server yourself, using SSH for Linux or Remote Desktop for Windows, you can request a power cycle of your server using the Hosting Control Center.
To Submit a Power Cycle Request in the Hosting Control Center
- In the Hosting Control Center, under Support, click Request Power Cycle. A confirmation message displays.
- Click Request Power Cycle to confirm your request.
NOTE: Power cycles typically take between 30 minutes and one hour to complete.
